Six Red Marbles Partners with Before Racism™ on Comprehensive Anti-Racism Program for Very Young Children
October 5, 2021
BOSTON, Massachusetts—Six Red Marbles (SRM) is partnering with Before RacismTM to create a comprehensive anti-racism program for very young children ages 1–5. SRM is using its experience design expertise to ensure Before Racism’s program reflects the most current and effective methods of teaching and pedagogical practice.
This partnership will produce program content that can be delivered in preschool and childcare settings with the full knowledge and understanding of how very young children learn and form their thinking and feelings around issues of racial identity, including attitudes toward people different from themselves.
“Racial injustice is tearing our country apart,” said David Goodman, President and CEO of Six Red Marbles. “Before Racism’s work is vitally important for us as a society, and we’re excited to be part of this meaningful program that will provide the tools to help prevent racism before it can take root in young children.”
Six Red Marbles’ team of learning experience designers will work closely with Before Racism’s subject matter experts in early childhood development and pediatric neuropsychology, as well as anti-racism practitioners and community organization professionals, to build a comprehensive, integrated anti-racism program to reach children ages 1–5 throughout the United States. The program is intended to shape and deliver early childhood learning experiences that will have a lasting impact on children’s attitudes toward others.
“Much has been done to address racism in this country in the last 50 plus years, and much, much more needs to be done,” said Bill Svrluga, Founder & Co-Director of Before Racism. “We know the most efficient and cost-effective solution to any problem is prevention. That is the core premise and goal of Before Racism—preventing the development of overt and covert bias in very young children that fuels the development of racism.”
