The ship's full-rotation propeller propulsion system is also called a "Z-shaped propeller". It is named because the shaft system in its pod is arranged in a Z shape. The full-rotation propeller propeller is fixed underwater on the hull, and the related transmission system of the ship's propeller is arranged in the pod, which is driven by electric or mechanical power. The propeller integrates the two functions of ship propulsion and ship control. The propeller of the ship can be rotated 360° around the vertical axis in the pod through the bevel gear device and worm gear device in the pod. This type of propeller can change the direction of thrust at will according to the change of the ship's position, and can be propulsed in any direction. It can also realize the ship's U-turn on the spot, and the advance and retreat are flexible and free. The maneuverability and control performance of the ship are greatly improved. The function of maneuvering and propelling the ship at the same time can be fully realized.
The working principle of the ship's full-rotation propeller propulsion system is that the ship transmits the output power of the main engine or electric motor to the vertical shaft through the horizontal first-level bevel gear on the top of the pod, and the vertical shaft transmits the output power to the horizontal second-level bevel gear at the bottom of the pod through the horizontal shaft on the gear to the propeller, and finally forms a Z-shaped transmission system. The propulsion device realizes 360° horizontal rotation function by driving the worm gear to rotate through a hydraulic pump.
The propeller working state of the full-rotation rudder propeller propulsion system includes two working states: fixed pitch and variable pitch.
The full-rotation rudder propeller propulsion system has better performance in vibration reduction and noise reduction
The traditional propulsion system is composed of the ship's main engine, gearbox, intermediate shaft, tail shaft, multiple support bearings, thrust bearings, and a water sealing system to transmit force to the propeller to drive the propeller to rotate. Due to the long distance, complex structure, and high manufacturing and installation precision requirements of the transmission system, it is difficult to avoid manufacturing and installation precision errors during the construction process, so the vibration and noise generated are inevitable.
The full-rotation rudder propulsion system is a variable frequency motor or hydraulic motor that directly drives the propeller. It has a compact structure, high manufacturing and installation precision, and the propulsion system is installed outside the cabin of the hull, which significantly reduces the vibration and noise of the ship.
Compared with the traditional propulsion system, the propeller disc of the full-rotation rudder propulsion system can obtain a more uniform flow, which also significantly reduces the vibration of the ship and reduces the noise.
